In this volume, Jens Müller traces 130 years of graphic design history and its evolution from the late 19th century to today, passing through the post-war economic boom. Double-page spreads detailing each year are complemented by in-depth articles on dozens of key projects and profiles of industry leaders.

Visual history of graphic design

A comprehensive overview of hundreds of key projects, profiles of industry leaders, and comprehensive timelines for each decade Over the whirlwind passage of time, graphic design – with its vivid and sharp synthesis of images and ideas – has captured the spirit of every era. Every single moment of every day we are surrounded by minimalist packaging, colorful advertising, brilliant environmental infographics and agile interfaces: therefore, graphic design serves as much to convey information as to reflect the cultural aspirations and values of a society. Thanks to his vast knowledge of the subject, the author Jens Müller reviews the most extraordinary projects of each year, which also represent milestones in the history of design.
